Obverse 8

Reverse J

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Repunched First and Last 6 Digits

Die Chip Below OF

Obverse 8 is identified by date placement at C and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the north above the lower loop of the first 6 and to the north above all elements of the last 6.  Obverse 8 is observed with a comma shaped die chip below 'OF'.  Obverse 8 was struck from misaligned working dies, with the misalignment noticeable to the north.

Reverse J was struck from misaligned working dies, with the misalignment noticeable to the southeast.

Comments:  The Obverse 8 die chip below 'OF' seems to be an obiquitous attribute of Obverse 8 and may be utilized to quickly identify this obverse.  However, there is a possibility that this die chip may be associated with a later die state and not found on earlier die state examples of Obverse 8.
