Clash Marks Through The C Of CENT

Clash Marks To The Right Of The Denomination


Obverse 17 is observed with date placement at C and has acquired clash marks in front of the face of Miss Liberty and above the first three feathers from a clashing event with Reverse V.

Reverse V is rotated 10 degrees clockwise and has developed a retained cud between 3:15 and 4:15.  Reverse V has acquired clash marks through The C of CENT, Above The O of ONE and to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 17.  Reverse V develops the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the tip of the right wreath downward through the right outer edge of the right wreath to a point at 2:30.
2.  Die crack from the northern section of the retained cud diagonally into the right wreath.
3.  Heavy die crack from the rim at 5:15 to the wreath stem.
4.  Heavy die crack from the rim at 8:00 through the top olive leaf.
5.  Die crack within the left wreath between 9:30 and 10:00.
6.  Die crack from the rim at 11:45 downward through the shield to the third from the top horizontal shield line.

Comments:  Variety 22 was first identified by this author during late October 2016.
