Obverse 1 is identified by date placement at LE, die chip above the ear, die scratch from the second diamond into the neck and a bulged upper section of the I of UNITED.

1865 Reverse A has now acquired a die file mark from the denticles at 6:00 and has been repolished after its previous assignment of striking proof cents in 1866.

Comments:  The 1867 Proof 1 die pairing struck all proof cents in 1867.

!865 Reverse A was previously in service striking proof cents during the 1865 Plain 5 Proof 1 die pairing and the 1866 Proof 1 die pairing.
