Die cracking Between 3:30 and 4:00

Cud Between 6:15 and 7:30

The second usage of Obverse 3.  Obverse 3 is identified by date placement at C and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the north above the 8, within the upper loop and above the 6 and above the 7.

Reverse C has developed a cud between 6:15 and 7:30 and the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack segment extending along the outer right wreath between 3:30 and 4:00.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 4:00 extends into the middle arrowhead.

Comments:  Variety 3 represents the second usage of Obverse 3, which was previously in service paired with Reverse B during the 1867 Variety 2 Die Pairing.  It is interesting to note that both Reverse B and Reverse C developed breaks during their service paired with Obverse 3.

The Reverse C cud was first identified by this author during early August 2021.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin Collection, G4
