Obverse 46 is identified by date placement at RH; possible misplaced
digit in the denticles below and to the right of the 1 of the date;
repunched date that feaures initial date impressions to the northeast
within both loops of the last 9. Obverse 46 has developed
heavy die flow lines and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye
of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AT.
Reverse
AT is in a similar die state as Obverse 46, with the advancement of
heavy die flow lines. Reverse AT has acquired a clash mark
through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 46.
Comments: The
Obverse 46 date repunching is almost identical to the repunching of the
last 9 of Obverse 23 from the Variety
19 die pairing.
Variety 42 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the
above plate coin during mid January 2018 for inclusion in this book
based on the Obverse 46 date repunching.
