The Second usage of Obverse 11.  Obverse 11 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south within both loops of the 8 and within the lower loop of the 6.  Obverse 11 has acquired multiple clash marks between feathers 8 and 9 and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 7:00 connects the bases of the 1 and 8 digits of the date.
2.  Die crack connecting the tops of 'A(MER)ICA'.
3.  Die crack connecting the tops of 'U(NITE)D'.

Reverse AZ has developed a cud between 11:15 and 12:30, acquired multiple clash marks located to the right of the denomination and above (O)NE and has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 3:15 extends into the right wreath.
Rev. AZ.2:  The retained portion of the Reverse AZ die break is now absent, resulting in a full cud.

Comments:   Variety 24 was first identified by this author during late July 2015.  Variety 24a was first identified by this author during mid January 2021.  During Variety 24a, Obverse 11 will exhibit strike weakness of the denticles below the date due to metal filling the void left by the absence of the retained portion of the Reverse AZ die break.

It should be noted that both the Variety 24 and Variety 24a Plate Coins, when laying flat with obverse up, will exhibit rocking when the coin is pressed on either side. This rocking should not be associated with a bent coin, but attributed to the working die(s) that struck these coins.

Variety 24 represents the second usage of Obverse 11.  The initial usage of Obverse 11 was during the 1864 With L Variety 10 Die Pairing and the third usage of Obverse 11 was during the 1864 With L Variety 11 Die Pairing.
